Want to join us?  We hope you do!  The best way to start is to just SHOW UP to a Troop meeting.  We meet almost every week throughout the year from 7-8:30pm.  Ask anyone wearing a Scout uniform to direct you to the Scoutmaster.

During the winter months (November thru February) we meet on Thursday nights at our Charter Organization, the VFW Post 5855, and during the warmer months (March thru October), on Monday nights, we’ll be at the Friends of Vicksburg Youth cabin at Camp Char Le Maude located at the dead-end of S. Being a part of a Scouts BSA Troop include a long-time tradition of “community service hours”.  The Scouts have been involved in helping our community at South County Community Services, Generous Hands and The Vicksburg Historical Society and Historic Village just to name a few.

Troop 251 actually consists of 2 Troops… a boy and a girl Troop who each hold their Troop Meetings at the same time/place and often combine their other activities together also. 

Troop 251 is run by the Scouts! Both our Boy Troop and our Girl Troop each plan their calendar with the guidance of their adult leaders.  The Scouts, along with their Scoutmaster’s guidance, elect a Senior Patrol Leader who, in turn, appoints the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Each Patrol within both Troops select their own Patrol Leaders and Assistants.  There are many other positions available within both Troops, so there is a role to play for every Scout.
